Ever since I was a little child, I wanted to go to the country called Cambodia. I had heard a lot about it. I had read books and novels based in Cambodia and about the civil war in the 1970s. I always had a fascination for the country and the desire to go over there. I had seen it in movies, magazines, and postcards that my father used to bring for me when he went to Cambodia, as he had been there many times.
The only thing I knew about Cambodia was that it was a small country in the Far East, and I had a slight idea about the temple Angkor Wat. This is a temple which is famous all over the world, and the country is known for this and earns a lot of money because of it. Their tourist industry thrives on it!
In other words, I had always wanted to go to Cambodia. So, in the middle of 2019, my father and I went to Cambodia from Pakistan via Qatar. There was a stopover in Doha, Qatar, since we were flying through Qatar Airways. Qatar Airways is a very well-known airline, and a lot of people use it and take their flights from there to travel to various destinations of the world.
The American dollar goes a long way here, making the incredible nightlife and hotel experiences surprisingly affordable and fun
I was happy and excited to go there, and I did not know what to expect or think. We arrived at the airport and passed by the streets of Phnom Penh. I had also read about Cambodia in books and novels some time ago, so I really was excited. Cambodia is what Thailand was twenty-five years ago, as a matter of fact. This is what people say about the country, but I liked and enjoyed going there despite that fact because it has its own charm and is unique in its own special way.
We went to our hotel and took it easy. We stayed in various hotels, discovered the capital, and we loved it. The Mekong River runs through the city. This is the major river over there, and the city is known due to that. As a matter of fact, the river runs through many Asian countries, including Cambodia, which is just great.
I discovered the city and went here and there. The nightlife was incredible, but not as good as the nightlife of Bangkok, Thailand. We went to different bars and eating places. The nightlife and hotels were incredible, and you could go to various bars and disco places, which was nice and fun. I made some friends over there and explored the city, and as a matter of fact, I liked the nightlife. The American dollar has a lot of value over there, and things are very cheap actually.
I was happy and excited to be there after so many years of thinking about it.
I have talked about everything up till now, but not the most important thing about Cambodia, which is this—yes, you have guessed it right! It's the Angkor Wat temple in the small city of Siem Reap in Cambodia. We took the bus to Siem Reap from the capital of Cambodia, which is known as Phnom Penh.
So we arrived in the great city of Siem Reap. As soon as I got there, I fell in love with the city like anything. It was the best part of Cambodia. There was a place called Pub Street, where people from Western countries were dancing the night away and enjoying themselves to some nice music. My father and I then went and saw the great temple of Angkor Wat, and it was just great. It is a wonder of the world, and I am sad to learn that some people don't even know about it and that some people are not even familiar with the country of Cambodia.
Anyways, my trip to Cambodia was great and really enjoyable. I got to know about a lot of books on Cambodia and the Khmer Rouge, in which many people were killed. The other thing to see in Cambodia is the Killing Fields, where people were tortured in the 1970s, which was just terrible. The Killing Fields is where all the bad things took place, and they were made into a museum.
To top it all off, the trip to Cambodia was great! Cambodia is an amazing country, and in fact, the whole of the Far East is amazing, and I cannot get enough of it; it is heaven on earth. The nightlife and the people are great, and there are great books and literature available about the country and its people.
The city of Siem Reap was great, as it has tourists from all over the world, and also due to the world-famous Angkor Wat, which is a great wonder of the world, even though very few people know about it. The city of Siem Reap was just great and amazing, and that's what the country is known for all around the world.
I also made a Japanese friend over there, and there were books that were very great being sold, specifically on Cambodian literature, as well as books on Cambodia, in addition to books on Buddhism and the religion which they practice, like worshipping the Buddha. Going to Cambodia was an experience of a lifetime. Although I have only been there once, one should go there many, many times as it is an amazing country.
We went there for over ten days and had a blast, and I would like to go over there again!
