The scant nature of this timeline reflects the convergence between nuclear proliferation, political gamesmanship, cyber-enabled disinformation, and ineffective responses to climate change in making the world more vulnerable. World-renowned scientists, global leaders, and experts are urging the world to take immediate action, as the clock is ticking and the world cannot afford any more time: the world cannot wait. It reminds us that human weakness and structural constraints threaten civilisation on the brink of a disastrous catastrophe that is beyond repair.
South Asia is seeing the Doomsday Clock tick faster than the rest of the world. The nuclear aspect adds to the increased feeling of urgency. Those nuclear-capable states, which have previously engaged in fighting by means of arms, are especially likely to become involved in a rapidly spiralling conflict between India and Pakistan.
The Pulwama attack in 2019 is one such incident: a suicide bombing killed 40 Indian paramilitary forces, and it was followed by rapid and violent military retaliation; for example, the Indian fighter jets hit a target in Pakistan, which they claimed was a terrorist camp, while Pakistan shot down an Indian fighter jet and captured its pilot.

The risk of alienation of the ecology and migration is possible, which pushes the forces on the institutions of government, infrastructure, and social relations that precondition the worsening of a conflict.
