Man Kills Sister For ‘Honour’ In Karachi
A young woman was fatally shot dead by her brother on Sunday in Phase VI of Karachi's Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in the name of 'honour.’

According to a representative for the Chhipa Welfare Organisation, the event happened early on Sunday. He said that the body was eventually taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre to complete the necessary legal paperwork.

Police surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed confirmed that the young woman was shot in the head and in the leg. She said that her cranial vault had suffered significant damage.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (South) Syed Asad Raza, the woman was fatally shot by her brother for the sake of the family's ‘honour.’  He said that during the police interrogation, the suspect confessed to killing his sister out of 'honour'.

During the initial investigation, the suspect stated that he was at his residence on Saturday night at about 2 a.m. His sister was 'coming from the kitchen side' while he was cleaning his legally owned 9mm handgun in the yard of the house.

The brother initially told the police, "the pistol fired accidentally during cleaning, and the bullet hit my sister's waist, injuring her."

According to the brother's statement, "She was taken to a hospital for medical treatment, but she passed away as a result of her injury."

SSP Raza, however, stated that evidence indicated that the girl's brother had shot and killed her. The officer said that it was not an "accidental fire." After being taken into custody and being questioned, the suspect "spilled the beans and confessed the crime," the officer said.

The officer said, "The suspect told the police that he shot his sister because she had 'illicit ties' with someone."

The police officer said that none of the family members were willing to file the complaint. As a result, it was agreed that the state would file a murder case against the suspect who was being held.
