Bilal Lashari directorial The Legend of Maula Jatt has emerged as the highest grossing Punjabi film of all time in the United Kingdom.

The film has also collected over US$5 million worldwide, a Wednesday post shared on the official Instagram of the handle said. The aforementioned figure translates into a whopping sum exceeding Rs1,100 million. The Fawad-Mahira Khan starrer had earlier made history by becoming the first film to enter the coveted 100-crore figure.

Ammara Hikmat, who produced the blockbuster, told The Friday Times-Naya Daur that working on the potboiler had proven to be a rewarding experience. “A film of this calibre is not easy to helm in Pakistan. But in the end it was all worth it,” she said.

The film continues to roar at the international box office. The Legend of Maula Jatt, which released on October 13, has separately outshined Diwali Bollywood releases Ram Setu and Thank God in the United Kingdom and the United States, according to Bollywood Hungama.

The Legend of Maula Jatt raked over US$46,000 at the United Kingdom box office on Day 13. Figures for the two aforementioned Tuesday Bollywood releases, however, pale in comparison.

The Bilal Lashari directorial repeated a similar feat at the North America box office by collecting over US$56,000. Ram Setu, on the other hand, grossed US$48,330 while Thank You collected US$40,358.

The Legend of Maula Jatt opened to rave reviews following its October 13 release. Fawad Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi and Humaima Malik headline the cast. It also stars Mahira Khan, Faris Shafi and Gohar Rasheed.
