PTI Nominates Pervaiz Elahi As Punjab Chief Minister Candidate
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) core committee meeting has nominated Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid  (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi as their joint candidate for the office of the chief minister of Punjab.

The elections for the office of Punjab chief minister are to be held on July 22, and after PTI's win during the by-election, where it secured 15 out of 20 vacant Punjab Assembly seats, it seems unlikely that Hamza Shehbaz will be able to retain the simple majority required to keep his post as the current CM.

A PTI core committee meeting was held a day after the by-elections, in the presence of party Chairperson Imran Khan. During the meeting, the discussion revolved around the 'historic win' of the PTI, as well as strategies for the upcoming local government elections in Sindh.

The meeting also talked for expediting the countrywide membership drive of the party, as well as enhancing the grassroots organization of the party, and discussed strategies related to the two, according to Business Recorder.

Khan also cautioned party members to be vigilant towards the by-elections and local government elections in Sindh, instructing them to not let anyone rig the polls.

Business Recorder also reported that Pervaiz Elahi made a phone call to Imran Khan thanking him for nominating him as the joint candidate for the PTI and PML-Q, assuring him that he would do his best to live up to his expectations.

Pervaiz Elahi had also been in the running for Punjab CM before and had lost to Hamza Shehbaz.

The new elections for chief minister of Punjab are scheduled to take place on July 22.
