Salon’s newly-launched Lahore branch in DHA Raya this month, where the much-anticipated product launch of the EMME Diciotto keratin treatment captivated an elite audience of socialites, influencers, and fashion insiders. In a nod to the salon’s commitment to global standards, the event featured Mauro Sopranzetti, the Italian brand’s charming representative, who flew in to personally unveil the cutting-edge treatment.
But behind the success of the event - and the salon’s growing reputation as one of Pakistan’s top beauty destinations - lies Michael Kanaan, a self-made visionary whose journey in the beauty industry began at just 15-years-old in Mt. Lebanon. Starting out as a young apprentice in a local salon, Michael’s natural flair for beauty and style, paired with his solid determination, quickly set him on a path toward international acclaim.
Now with almost 40 years of experience, Michael has worked in Beirut, Cairo, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi, perfecting his craft and gaining invaluable exposure to some of the world’s top beauty standards. Yet, it was his move to Pakistan over two decades ago that would define his legacy. Alongside his wife and business partner, Elizabeth Whitney Kanaan, he founded Michael K. Salon in Islamabad in 2009 with a mission to bring global-level grooming to Pakistan, and to build a culture of education, professionalism and international skill within the industry.
Michael’s striking physical presence mirrors his bold, visionary approach to haircare; his thick white-framed glasses, the tattoos that cover both arms, and his natural charisma have made him a well-known figure not only for his remarkable talent, but also for his laidback style.
“Understanding your client’s needs isn’t just technical, it’s emotional,” Michael states. “Every cut, every style is about picking up on what someone wants, even if they can’t quite put it into words. That’s what I love about this work. Expanding into Lahore is a big step for us. It’s fresh energy and a new audience. We’re quite excited about bringing what we do to a whole new community while growing the brand in a way that still feels personal and true to our roots.”
Under his guidance, Michael K. Salon employs a skilled team of 30+ professionals, including four international hairstylists who are trained in the same thorough approach to precision styling that Michael himself embodies.
Today, the salon’s reputation extends beyond Islamabad. With the opening of the Lahore branch in DHA Raya (earlier this year), Michael is introducing his signature blend of sophisticated styling, international products, and a passion for state-of-the-art techniques.
