Doda Ellahi and Gamshad Baloch, the two Baloch students from the University of Karachi who were abducted by unidentified individuals a week ago, have returned home.

Gamshad and Doda are both students in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Karachi. 24-year-old Gamshad is in his third year, while 22-year-old Doda is a second year student.

The two shared a residence in the Muskan Chowrangi neighborhood of Karachi, which is where they were picked up from on June 7 around 5:00 AM, by unknown individuals who broke into their house.

The next day around 2:00 AM another Baloch student, Kaleem Ullah was abducted, however he was released two days later.

According to a report by Dawn, an activist source said that the two returned to their home in Muskan Chowrangi around 3 AM on Monday night. The source added that both men belonged to the Kech district in Balochistan.

Doda’s brother Shayhaq Ellahi tweeted about the release of the two missing students and said, “My brother Doda along [with] his friend Gamshad has been safely released,” adding that he was thankful to everyone who offered them support during this time.

My brother Doda along his friend Gamshsd has been safely released. I am really grate-ful to all those who supported us in this difficult time.
I might not be able to mention all of you here who stood with us, but you'll all forever live on our hearts.@VeengasJ pic.twitter.com/TCP1lpJKIY

His sister HudaHair Ellahi also tweeted about their return, and thanked people for their help.

Breaking , Doda Elahi and Ghamshad recovered and reached home. Thanks for All who supported and take action against abduction of Doda Elahi and Ghamshad Baloch .

The families of the two missing students had organized peace sit ins outside the Karachi Press Club the day the two were abducted, and have held subsequent demonstrations outside the Sindh Assembly.

Yesterday’s peaceful sit-in was disrupted by the Sindh Police, who showed up and began attacking the protesters who had just been sitting peacefully. The men were beaten with batons, while the women were dragged and pushed into police vans.

Among the women protesters was Doda’s pregnant sister-in-law Mahnaz, who was also dragged by female police officers.
