Ever since the Soviets invaded Afghanistan, the Americans bombed Baghdad and Afghanistan, the Serbs massacred Bosnians and now that the illegitimate state of Israel continues to commit genocidal terrorism on unarmed Palestinians, it appears that history is repeating itself on the patterns of the Crusades, Genghiz Khan and Halaku Khan in the more recent past and Pharoah in times of yore.
Pretenders espousing Hindutva and state terrorism in Indian occupied Kashmir for decades are joining the fray, aligned with oppressive forces in the illegally occupied Palestinian territories, with the world's policemen quietly egging it on.
Then there are the hypocritical regimes clinging to power in several Middle East and African Muslim majority countries, against popular aspirations and wishes of the population at large, clueless in the face of oppressive monarchies, dictatorships, and sham democracies, to effect a change in their collective destinies.
Predictably, these same Muslim majority states seem to have aligned with the oppressors either militarily, economically, or politically, with the foolish and ill-placed trust in global and regional bullies to protect their unpopular regimes.
If might is indeed taken to be right, with these inequities, there is then no hope for the oppressed, disillusioned, and disenfranchised global populations
On the other side, in the Muslim world, there is largely disarray in collective political wisdom and thought, economic disparities, and sparse military forces capable of true resistance to the new world order and alliances.
It is now a clear trajectory that the United Nations has taken in its irrelevance, and organisations like the OIC and GCC have taken in their ineffectiveness.
When the world and humanity look for peace, justice, economic stability, and health for all, 80 percent of global resources seem to be with the 20 percent not willing to share either food, healthcare, knowledge, or technology with the 80 percent more challenged populations.
If might is indeed taken to be right, with these inequities, there is then no hope for the oppressed, disillusioned, and disenfranchised global populations.
It then makes political sense, expediency, and the formation of a coalition of the willing to challenge this global disorder and the criminal and rogue states.
The states willing to share sound governance models, economic resources, technology, and military strength across geographical divides have to do so with immediate realignment on this pressing agenda. Call this alliance by whatever name, Pakistan needs to step up to its predestined leadership role for the OIC states and shape our collective vision and global destiny. It's either now or face the inevitable destiny of dictatorial regimes in the recent past.
History gives every nation a window of opportunity. Pakistan has one now. Miss it at one's peril.
