Defused bomb goes off at scrap warehouse

Reported in Nawa-e-Waqt (April 7, 2015) a defused (nakara) bomb went off at a scrap warehouse in Gujranwala. Four laborers were injured in the explosion.

Bank robber arrested with TV remote control

A man entered a bank in Havela Lakha and threatened to blow up a bomb with the remote control in his hand if the manager did not give him Rs 10 million, Dunya reports (April 9, 2015). When police and a local journalist overpowered him, it turned out to be TV remote control. They also seized a gun from him.

Madrassa ‘terror suspect’ robbed of laptop

Reported in Jang (April 11, 2015) two men in police uniform stopped a madrassa student carrying a laptop and said he looked like a terrorist. The boy took them to his madrassa so that the administrator could talk to them. When he went into the madrassa, they fled with his laptop, money and other belongings.
Five suspended after Zardari stuck in traffic jam

According to Khabrain (April 11, 2015) five traffic officers were suspended after former president Asif Zardari’s car was stuck in traffic on his way to the Karachi airport.
Man accused of stealing Mehdi Hassan’s awards flees from court

Reported in Dunya (April 12, 2015) when a court rejected the bail plea of a man accused of stealing late vocalist Mehdi Hassan’s awards, he ran away from the court before the police could arrest him.
Rs 1,000 for ‘special rooms’ in matriculation exams

Nawa-e-Waqt reports (April 12, 2015) ‘special rooms’ were set up at matriculation exam centers in Karachi where cheating was allowed. Students were charged Rs 1,000 for a seat in the special rooms.
