Federal Cabinet To Withdraw Reference Against Justice Qazi Faez Isa From Supreme Judicial Council
The federal cabinet has decided to withdraw the presidential reference against Justice Qazi Faez Isa from the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC).

A meeting of the federal cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif, in which various issues came under discussion.

During the meeting, the federal cabinet decided to make legislation regarding the suo motu authority of the chief justice of Pakistan (CJP) and the powers to form a bench of the Supreme Court.

The cabinet decided to remove Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General Rai Tahir from his post and appoint him as the National Counter-Terrorism coordinator.

It also decided to appoint grade-22 police officer Mohsin Butt as the FIA director general.

Earlier, during a meeting with the Insaf Lawyers Forum (ILF) members in April, former prime minister and PTI Chairperson Imran Khan had admitted that the filing of a presidential reference for the removal of Justice Qazi Faez Isa was a mistake.

Several participants of the meeting had confirmed to a news outlet that Imran Khan had admitted that the filing of a presidential reference against Justice Isa was a mistake as the then relevant officials had misguided his government about the facts of the case.
