NADRA puts ‘Barack Obama’ in trouble
According to Dunya (June 7, 2016) a man from Dir named Barack Hussain was issued an identity card that said his name was Barack Obama. He said he was in trouble (mushkil main parr gya) and wanted a certificate from NADRA that it was their fault.

Two caught for selling donkey meat in Ramzan
Express reports (June 8, 2016) two butchers were caught selling donkey meat as beef in the holy month of Ramzan in Jaranwala. Two others fled. More than 40 kilograms of donkey meat was seized from their shops.

Fight over free food
Reported in Nawa-e-Waqt (June 6, 2016) three women fell unconscious and many others were hurt when people pushed and shoved each other (dhakkam pail) at a free giveaway of essentials for Ramzan at Karachi’s expo center. The administration ran out of supplies, but money women climbed the gate and forced their way in. People were seen fighting over the essentials.

40-year-old changes gender ‘because of unemployment’
A 40-year-old person told Jang (June 8, 2016) that unemployment compelled her to get a gender reassignment surgery to become a woman and sing and dance for a living. She changed her name from Nasir to Sana. Sana told the newspaper she can also beg for food now.

MNA resists robbery
PML-N parliamentarian Seema Jilani resisted a robbery attempt by two men and made them run away, Dunya reports (June 9, 2016). She was on her way to visit a Ramzan Bazaar in Rawalpindi when her car got stuck in a traffic jam. But despite her screaming, she said nobody came to help her.

‘I smoke weed, but I do not sell it’
Reported in Dunya (June 10, 2016) when police brought a drug trafficking suspect to a court in Lahore, he began to protest (wawela) as soon as he saw reporters. He said he smoked Charas but did not sell it. He said the police had been blackmailing him because he refused to bribe them.

Dozens of donkeys stolen in a single night
According to Jang (June 10, 2016) dozens of donkeys were stolen in a single night from various villages in Wazirabad and Gakhar Mandi. The thieves took away the hides and the meat, but left the bones behind.

Traffic warden fights with shopkeeper over cold drink
Nawa-e-Waqt says (June 11, 2016) a traffic warden in Gujranwala injured a salesman at a tuck shop with a soft drink bottle because it wasn’t cold enough. Other traffic wardens came to his rescue. They said the shopkeeper had used inappropriate language.

PTI leader orders mob violence
Reported in Express (June 12, 2016) a meeting of elders led by PTI leader Rashid Qadri blackened the faces of a couple and told people to beat them up with shoes because they said they could not produce a marriage certificate. The man and the woman claim to be married and have two children. Police arrested 13 suspects after they found out.
Fake officer arrested from police station
According to Dunya (June 12, 2016) a fake Superintendent of Police was arrested in Gujranwala after he barged into a police station and scolded the cops. The Karachi resident claimed he was posted in Islamabad. The stationhouse officer was suspicious, and called up his bosses. They told him there was no such SP in Islamabad. The arrested man said he had been compelled by his friends to go in and find out the status of a case against them.
