According to Daily Jang (20 May 2019), PM Imran Khan noted that the country had failed to move forward due to those people who get together in the name of Democracy (jamhooriat bachanay ke naam per jamaa honay walay loogon ki waja se). He further opined that the Corrupt Political Mafia wanted to blackmail him through the economy.

On prices
It was reported by Daily Jang (20 May 2019) that Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed, responding to the announcement by opposition parties of a movement against the government, said that his side were ready for the contest. He further expressed his view that the rising prices in the country were caused by looters (mehngai luteron ki waja se hui).

The journey has begun
Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar, according to Daily Jang (20 May 2019), expressed his view that there were always obstacles in the way of change (tabdeeli) but that the ruling party would not lose its will. Further, he noted that the journey of serving the people (awami khidmat ka safr) had started and that the government was building the kind of Pakistan that the Quaid-e-Azam had dreamt of.

Commenting on the need for transparency in the government’s dealings with the IMF, the PPP’s Khurshid Shah according to Daily Express (21 May 2019) noted that so much oil had been extracted from the people that it could now be exported (awam ka itna tel nikal gya ke export bhee ho sakta hai).

Daily Jang (21 May 2019) reported that controversial Australian Senator Fraser Anning, who shot to fame after having an egg thrown over him by a boy, had lost his Senate seat in recent elections.

It was reported by Daily Jang (21 May 2019) that Sheikh Rasheed had recommended to Imran Khan that he ought to give an NRO to the political leaders who were asking for it (sab NRO mang rahay hein, meinay kahaa tha “de do”). However, according to Sheikh Rasheed, the PM refused (Imran Khan ne kaha mein NRO nahin doon ga).

Daily Jang (22 May 2019) reported that police in Sukkur had taken into custody a man who allegedly duped young men into meeting him by talking to them in a feminine voice on the phone and then kidnapping them.

During an investigation
It was reported by Daily Dunya (23 May 2019) that Rana Abdul Sattar, an MPA from Sialkot belonging to the PML-N, freed a number of suspects from the custody of an ASI of the police. The report stated that the ASI was pushed around in this process, and watched in helplessness as the MPA took away the well connected suspects.

Duty
Daily Dunya (25 May 2019) quoted PM Imran Khan as saying that the next two months will be difficult. He also opined that a nation becomes united in difficult times, rather than purchasing US dollars (qaum buray waqt mein muttahid hoti hai, na ke dollar khareednay lag jaye).
