Reported in Nawa-e-Waqt (December 27, 2015) the famous fortune teller known as Mamu predicts Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to Pakistan is ill-omened (manhoos). His is going through an unlucky period and brings trouble wherever he goes. The prime ministers of Australia, Canada and Nepal were removed soon after Modi visited their countries.

Cold blooded cop 


Express reports (December 27, 2015) a policeman thrashed a waiter at a restaurant in Lahore for giving him cold chick peas with hot parathas. The cop, who was there for breakfast before duty, lost his temper (aag bagola) and began slapping him. People intervened and cooled him down (minnat samajat) to resolve the matter (mamla rafa dafa).

Chaudhry Nisar hires social media experts 


According to Dunya (December 28, 2015) Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar has hired three social media experts to run his Twitter and Facebook accounts. They will be paid by NADRA and the Interior Ministry simultaneously.

PPP workers attack police van carrying food 


Reported in Jang (December 28, 2015) PPP workers who had gathered in Larkana for Benazir Bhutto’s death anniversary attacked a vehicle of food (toot parray) that had in brought in for the policemen. The cops couldn’t stop them (aik na chali) and had to drive the vehicle away. The few policemen who did get some rice ate it as quickly as they could.

Lawbreaking rickshaywala wants justice 


Nawa-e-Waqt reports (January 1, 2016) a rickshaw driver caught going in the wrong direction on a one-way lane in Lahore was so dejected (dilbardashta) when he was fined, that he began to hit his head in his vehicle until it began to bleed. Dozens of rickshaywalas gathered at the scene blocked the road. They dispersed after they were ensured he will get justice (insaaf).

Maulana gets stuck in Parliament lift 


According to Dunya (December 30, 2015) Maulana Fazlur Rehman and his friends got stuck in the Parliament House elevator. The staff said the weight was higher than the lift could handle. The operator opened the door with his bare hands. Luckily, it stopped a few inches from the floor.

Shoaib Akhtar begins preaching


Express reports (December 31, 2015) Shoaib Akhtar demonstrated immense patience (sabr-o-tahammul) as he was spotted preaching for the first time in Kohat. He joined a team of preachers asking people to spend some time in the mosque.

Reported in Dunya (January 2, 2016) a NADRA officer and her husband had three identity cards each, and their son had two B-forms. The cards were likely made for the Benazir Income Support Program.

Famous actress caught in New Year party raid 


According to Jang (January 2, 2016) famous stage actress Sonia Khan was among the people arrested in a raid on a dance party on the new year night in Lahore. Police said they raided the event after an anonymous tipoff.

Orange train will be run by Chinese drivers 


The drivers who will run the Orange Line train in Lahore will also be brought in from China, Nai Baat reports (December 29, 2015). They will be hired as permanent employees of the service, along with Pakistani engineers.
