Parents Action Council, a collective of concerned parents advocating for the rights of students and their families, expresses strong opposition to the recent unjustified and illegal fee hike imposed by International School Lahore. The hike violates state education regulations and places an undue financial burden on families.
The fee hike ranging from 25% to 28% across various grades was introduced without any consultation with parents or adherence to the guidelines laid out by the Punjab education board and Fee Regulation DRA. This move not only contradicts the principles of transparency but also constitutes a direct violation of statutory norms.
“We are shocked by the administration’s unilateral decision. Education is a fundamental right, not a commodity. This hike is both illegal and unethical,” said Mr. Ayub sb spokesperson for the Parents Action Council.
Demands from the Parents' Action Council
- Immediate rollback of the fee hike and fee should be according to the government of Punjab laws.
- Transparent auditing of school accounts by an independent body.
- Formation of a Parent-Teacher Fee Regulation Committee as mandated under the applicable law.
- Strict action by the Punjab board of education against institutions violating the law.
- Grievance redressal mechanisms for parents impacted by such unlawful practices.
Legal Recourse Underway
In collaboration with legal experts and child rights organisations, PAC has filed a formal complaint with the DRA education board and is exploring further legal remedies to challenge the fee hike in appropriate judicial forums.
Our priority is the well-being and access to education for all children. We will not allow profiteering in the name of education,” stated the President of the PAC.
