Naysayers
Our mole reports that it has finally dawned on the government that a military operation against the Taliban and other terrorists has become unavoidable. At the same time, there are persistent naysayers within The Man of Steel’s ranks, the leading one being Mr Bean himself. While publicly his resistance is melting, our mole insists that in principle, he is still opposed to launching the operation. The khakis are at their wits’ end on how to deal with naysayers in both The Man of Steel’s camp and that of The Great Khan. They recently called some media people to come and advise them on how to deal with the naysayers.
On the same page
We hear Uncle Sam’s rep in Isloo had a private dinner and a tete-a-tete with the late, lamented Big Ben’s Hubby the other day. A fly on the wall told us that Uncle Sam’s man tried hard to persuade Hubby not to support The Man of Steel’s pursuit of the case against Mush, but was unable to get any commitments from him. Uncle Sam’s man was critical of Hubby’s recent speech in which he appeared to “egg on” The Man of Steel regarding the Mush trial. We hear many PPP stalwarts are on the same page as The Man of Steel and they too quote the hardships and persecution they’ve had to bear at the hands of the men in khaki and see the Mush trial as a litmus test.
Back at the ranch
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, General Bob has apparently told his boys that the Mush trial is that of an individual, not of an institution, thus distancing himself from the whole saga. However, an unconfirmed rumour has it that he’s also visited Mush in hospital and has had a chat with his lawyer.
Sitting pretty
A high-profile Baloch chieftain has been sitting pretty in a government guest house in Isloo for months, refusing to move out or indeed to Balochistan House. He’s curried favour and sympathy with the powers that be, and keeps delaying his departure on one pretext or another, saying that his life is threatened in Balochistan. And no one has the courage to ask him to leave!
