The Upper House of the Parliament of Pakistan paid rich tributes to His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan and the Aga Khan family for their relentless contributions to humanity, peace, social development, and poverty alleviation not only in Pakistan but across the world.
The Senate of Pakistan unanimously passed a resolution honoring the Aga Khan family for its decades-long contributions to humanitarian work, education, healthcare, and development in Pakistan, while warmly welcoming the visit of His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan.
During the session convened on Saturday morning, Senator Salim Mandviwalla moved a resolution extolling the commitment of the 50th Spiritual Leader of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslim community to humanity.
The resolution stated:
“This House warmly welcomes His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan on his visit to Pakistan, a country with which his family has shared spiritual, humanitarian, and development ties for decades.
This House pays rich tribute to the remarkable services of His Highness the Aga Khan family towards progress, welfare, education, healthcare, culture, and the uplift of humanity in Pakistan and across the world. Their contributions towards interfaith harmony, peace, tolerance, rural development, education, and the preservation of human dignity shall always remain deeply respected and appreciated.
The House acknowledges the extraordinary humanitarian work of the Aga Khan Development Network, rendered without any discrimination of color, creed, religion, nationality, or race. Through hospitals, universities, schools, rural support programs, and welfare initiatives, millions of lives have been transformed with hope and dignity.
The House also acknowledged the Shia Ismaili community living across the world, including in Pakistan, as a peaceful, law-abiding, and progressive community. The House expressed hope that the ongoing visit would further strengthen the ties between the Aga Khan family and Pakistan.”
