Double Shah II
Remember the notorious “Double Shah” who promised a hundred per cent return on their money to investors? And the greedy legions that lined up to eventually sink their savings? Well, it appears Double Shah II came, saw and conquered again. He went bust just before last year’s election and was facilitated out of the country by the former 007. Double Shah II’s wife was a Qing’s party parliamentarian in the last dispensation and the couple have now surfaced in London where they’ve applied for asylum. Our mole says Double Shah II is broke because he alleges he gave 007 a hefty pay off to escape from Pakistan last year. Further he says, 007 did the “Double Shah” on him and promised him a big return on the remainder of pound sterling he had left, and then promptly disappeared. What goes round, comes round.
No love lost
As we know, Mush’s lawyer filed an interesting application in court at the last hearing, one with significant implications. It was declared that the entire top brass and political leadership of the time were lined up solidly behind Mush for the proclamation of the 2007 Emergency. Mush claimed that he was not singly responsible by any means. This is remarkable not only for its implications but also for the frisson of anxiety it has caused in certain quarters. We hear Canny for one has been very upset at this and resents Mush for having dragged him into the mire. Canny, who has presided over Pakistan’s fortunes (such as they are) for the last decade, cites “chain of command” and seeks to distance himself. Mush, always a plain speaker and straight hitter, is having none of it. And as we well know, there’s no love lost between the two.
