Selective memory
Since accountability and money trails are all the rage these days, may we ask what has happened to the selective memory of the guardians of our morality? Not so long ago, in the reign of Big Ben’s Hubby, the namesake of the first Mughal emperor, who’s now joined The Great Khan’s horde, took a huge loan from a public sector bank. And defaulted on it. Some very creative accounting later, no mention was made of it. And of course, now the Mughal’s namesake has been washed clean of his sins, in The Great Khan’s very own dry cleaning unit.
Then there was Canny’s bro – the man with the Midas touch who fled the country the minute his elder sibling took off his uniform. And hasn’t been heard from since. We have it from our source in a reputed brokerage house that in 2012, Canny’s bro wanted to invest Rs 20 billion (we kid you not) in the stock market. The only problem was that it was all cash. The brokerage house baulked and said thanks, but no thanks. Accountability, anyone?
Patch up?
Sources say The Great Khan is making a last ditch effort to patch up with his First Spouse, and that she is being wooed by intermediaries. The reasoning is that a reunion would be a great shot in the arm for The Khan in election year, with the joint glamour quotient of the couple registering a significant increase. The First Spouse was asked the same question soon after The Khan’s split with his second lady, RK, a couple of years ago, and she flatly refused at the time. Rumour has it she did some discreet leaks to the effect too, and showed a message she had received from The Khan asking her to reconsider. It may be different this time round, with The First Spouse more amenable to persuasion.
