Junior Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, grandson of former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, has once again hinted at the formation of a new political party, saying groundwork is being laid to introduce a platform focused on youth empowerment and experienced political leadership.
Speaking to the media in Sujawal on Wednesday, Bhutto said a comprehensive political strategy was being devised prior to the formal launch of the party. “Our aim is to provide opportunities to young people while also seeking guidance from seasoned political workers,” he said, adding that a balance of experience and innovation could bring meaningful change for the people of Sindh.
He noted that his sister, Fatima Bhutto, was fully supportive and keen to take part in political activities. “She is always with me, but we are waiting for the right time,” he said.
Commenting on the Pakistan People’s Party’s prolonged rule in Sindh, Bhutto said the people desired leadership in the spirit of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto, and his father, the late Meer Murtaza Bhutto. He added that Sindh had long been deprived of quality leadership, leaving people with limited political choices.
Bhutto strongly criticized the Sindh government’s handling of emergency situations, citing the Gul Center fire tragedy as an example. He said poor planning, weak building structures, and the incompetence of the Sindh Building Control Authority had led to one of the worst human tragedies in the province’s history.
Earlier, Zulfikar Jr visited Sujawal to pay homage to veteran political leader and senior PPP worker Shaheed Bhutto Ustad Younous Bhan, a close associate of the late Meer Murtaza Bhutto. Paying tribute, he described Ustad Bhan as a committed and dynamic political worker who consistently raised his voice against injustice and inequality.
“His services and sacrifices for the cause of the people will always be remembered,” Bhutto said.
