Congrats all round
At a conclave of The Great Khan’s inner sanctum, on the occasion of the second anniversary of their selection, there were congratulations all round for the stellar job the government has done. Songs of praise were sung in honour of The Great Khan – “you have emerged as the greatest leader of the Muslim world” – by various ministers. “Pakistan is finally on the path to progress”, said one prominent leader. “You have put the fear of the Lord in the hearts of thieves and robbers in the country”, proclaimed yet another. And on and on it went, until A Sad Age got up and cleared his throat. “However”, he began, “all is not well in the Land of The Five Rivers”. The Great Khan raised an eyebrow but A Sad Age was undeterred. “You ask anyone”, he said, “our supporters and detractors alike will tell you that we have failed in the Punjab.”
Enough!
A few leading lights of the ruling party got together at a friend’s place in Isloo recently and made an interesting pledge. They decided that they would not go out on a limb to publicly defend the government. They agreed that their credibility and their “futures” were at stake. Amongst these were four important ministers and a parliamentary secretary.
And although he was not physically present at the meeting, our mole says The Sheikh of Lal Haveli said that he was with this group in spirit, and that he had “done enough”.
Cautioned
Diplomats from Pakistan’s two most important (and perhaps only) allies, cautioned senior ministers about the country’s “non-serious” foreign policy. They said they were in a quandary about what Pakistan really wanted to achieve with its current shenanigans. The standoff with Al-Brince is not a new thing, they said, it’s been brewing for months, and should have been dealt with long ago. The “all-weather” friend also alerted the ministers deemed to be close to The Great Khan, with a sobering message: “for how long can we clean up after you?”
