Four Including Two Cops Dead, Several Injured In Quetta Blast
Four people — including two police personnel — were killed while another 15 sustained injuries in a blast targeting a police vehicle near Qandhari Bazar of Quetta's Shahrah-e-Iqbal, on Monday.

The reports in the media quoted a senior police official as saying that a police vehicle was the target of the blast.

He added that the explosives had been planted on a motorcycle, adding that the injured include women and children.

The injured were rushed to the Civil Hospital Quetta for treatment, and the death toll is feared to rise.

"About three to four kilogrammes of explosives were used, damaging two vehicles, including a police van," the official said.

Last month, an explosion near a Balochistan Constabulary van near the Kanbari bridge in the Kachchi area of the province resulted in the death of nine security officers and the injuries of thirteen others.

According to SSP Kachhi Mahmood Notizai, the police van was attacked in the Bolan neighborhood of Kanbari, which is close to the Kachhi and Sibi Badar districts.

It was believed that a suicide bomber riding a motorcycle was behind the attack. Security personnel and bomb squads had arrived at the location and cordoned it off.

Also, on February 26, an explosive-laden motorcycle explosion caused at least four fatalities and 12 injuries in the Balochistan Barkhan district.

According to police, the blast took place in the Rakhni Bazaar area of Barkhan district and the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. Whereas, some injured were also shifted to a DG Khan hospital.

The explosion was so powerful that it damaged various cars, motorcycles and shops, as per police.

In a recent key meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC), it was resolved that a fresh military operation, a full-fledged one, is the need of the hour to tackle the rapidly growing terror threat.
