Police booked a former Civil Judge and three others in the case of drug paddling the other day from the limits of Tando Muhammad Khan.

According to the information gathered by this correspondent, Zahid Mugheri, a former Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate, along with his three accomplices identified as Sajid Lashari, Bilawal Sommro, and Muneer Malah, were apprehended by Tando Muhammad Khan Police after they were reportedly transporting material used for making Mainpuri and Gutka from Hyderabad to Tando Muhammad Khan.

The police recovered a huge quantity of contraband material, a weapon, and bullets and registered two separate cases under The Sindh Prohibition of Preparation, Manufacturing, Storage, Sale and Use of Gutka and Manpuri Act, 2019, and the Sindh Arms Act against the former Judge and his accomplices.

All four accused were produced before the Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate of Tando Muhammad Khan, who remanded them into judicial custody for 14 days, after which they were sent to Nara Jail, Hyderabad. The Senior Superintendent, when contacted, revealed that they had adopted a Zero Tolerance Policy against drug peddlers, adding that the case was being investigated from all angles.

However, it is pertinent to mention here that Zahid Mugheri was appointed as Civil Judge and Judicial Magistrate and was dismissed from service earlier this year for reportedly committing professional misconduct.
