No reprieve

Our mole says the Quaid-e-Qiwam is very uneasy in London these days, with Scotland Yard having upped the ante to round the clock surveillance of his home. This followed the Quaid’s application to the Home Office asking for a temporary reprieve to visit friends and family in Dubai.

In a huff

We hear Bill had organized an all-economy flight for his invitees from Karachi to Mohenjodaro, the venue of his festival. He had also decreed that seating should be on a first come, first served basis with no VIP treatment. One particularly entitled guest got on after most people were on board, only to discover that there were no seats available at the front of the aircraft. Bill’s guest got into a huff and had to be placated.

The evil eye

A friend of the Bollywood superstar SRK has declared that the actor and his wife have fallen prey to the “evil eye”. The story goes that it was after the evil eye was cast that SRK developed an interest in PC and they are a pukka item now. Not that SRK’s better half cares, we hear, as long as he observes all the niceties in public which she says are her due as his First Lady. The couple has recently had a surrogate baby and Bollywood observers are baffled by this, given that the couple live separate, drug-fuelled lives.

Line of fire

One dedicated policeman is in the Khanistas’ line of fire, and their vengeful tendencies are in full bloom. Regarding the tragic and mysterious death of a son of The Great Khan’s party stalwart, the officer had made an off the record remark that it was a possible suicide. This was followed by outrage and The Khan’s stalwarts asked the Punjab government to get rid of the officer. Our mole says there is a more sinister motive behind the move to oust the officer. The real reason is that the officer has set up an anti-smuggling unit and uncovered the activities of another Khanista who is one of the leading lights of an Indo-Pak border smuggling ring.
