A former adviser to Barack Obama has alleged that Israel is fuelling global instability and warned that only coordinated international pressure can restrain Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
In an interview on Full Frame with Fahd Husain aired on Express 24-7, Laurie A. Watkins said responsibility for holding Israel accountable must extend beyond Washington. “It can’t only be the US — it has to be all its allies,” she said, adding that European partners have been “more strong in their rhetoric.”
Watkins argued that Israel continues to enjoy unwavering backing from the United States, claiming current leadership is unlikely to reassess ties. “Not this administration — they are in bed with Israel,” she said.
Discussing domestic US politics, she alleged that former president Donald Trump had been “talked into this war at this time” and criticised members of Congress for being influenced by lobbying and campaign financing dynamics. She also pointed to declining American public support for Israel, citing recent polling trends.
During the programme, host Fahd Husain asserted that “the only country that feels more chaos is needed is Israel” and suggested that Israel “wants more chaos.” Watkins agreed with the broader framing, adding that China and Russia were also part of the wider geopolitical context shaping the conflict.
Addressing regional developments, Husain noted that while US Vice President JD Vance was engaged in peace efforts in Pakistan, Israeli military operations continued. Watkins responded: “It’s time for people to speak and speak against what Israel is doing.”
She further broadened the scope of the crisis beyond the Middle East, saying it affects regions across Europe, Asia and Africa, and warned of Israel’s growing global influence — a position she linked to sustained US support.
