Doing the rounds
A hilarious tweet was doing the rounds the other day: “The storm named ‘Ashoba’ which was approaching Karachi, was renamed Imran Khan after which it did a U-Turn and went back to sea.”
Slave market
A responsible government official speaking off the record described a disturbing development in Dera Ghazi Khan. He said that a slave market was operating with impunity in the town, with influentials “owning” dozens of young women from all over the country. He said people came to this veritable slave market and bought the women of their choice, with pretty young maidens commanding the highest prices. This sort of barbarity belongs in the dark ages, not in modern day Pakistan. The authorities would do well to take cognizance, apprehend the culprits and shut down this latter day slave market.
Smoking the peace pipe
Worried about the internecine warfare in his inner sanctum, we hear The Man of Steel invited his closest aides to smoke the peace pipe. The meeting took place in Isloo recently, with Talented Bro flying in from Lahore, The Man’s Dar-ling taking time off from his hectic activities as Super PM, Mr Bean making a herculean effort to smile, and KA resisting the temptation to stick the knife into all of them. God knows how long the camaraderie will last!
Not invited
A former khaki, once a great pal of a dissenting journo, celebrated his son’s wedding. He didn’t have the courtesy to invite his journo friend to the wedding because the latter was a critic of The Great Khan whose party the ex-khaki had joined. He thought it might cost him some brownie points with The Khan if his journo critic was under the same shamiana.
