Lahore Police Foil Attempted Mob Attack On Ahmadi Worship Place

Lahore police successfully averted a potential mob attack on an Ahmadi worship place in the Samanabad area on Friday, following swift action in response to an emergency alert.

The incident unfolded when a group of charged individuals reportedly began gathering near an Ahmadi worship site located on Poonch Road. The crowd, allegedly affiliated with a religious-political group, accused the community of violating Friday worship timings and began chanting provocative slogans.

Acting on a call received through the emergency helpline 15, Lahore Operations DIG Faisal Kamran directed a rapid deployment of law enforcement officers. Police contingents from multiple stations — including six SHOs, a DSP, a divisional SP, and an SSP — arrived promptly at the scene with armed personnel to contain the situation.

Officers swiftly launched an operation to secure the premises and safely evacuated worshippers, including women and children, to a secure location. Additional police forces were deployed around the site to prevent any further escalation.

Senior police officials also engaged with local community representatives and religious figures to help de-escalate tensions and restore calm.

According to sources, the Ahmadi worship place is registered with the relevant authorities and has been operating in the area for years. The allegations regarding the violation of worship timings were denied by the community, which maintains that it has been adhering to the officially provided schedule.

Operations DIG Faisal Kamran later confirmed that the situation was brought under control without incident and that further investigations are ongoing. He added that those involved in the attempted agitation would be dealt with according to the law.

Security has since been heightened in the vicinity, and efforts are underway to ensure long-term protection of religious sites and communal harmony.
