KARACHI/HYDERABAD: Qaumi Awami Tehreek chief and Supreme Court Advocate Ayaz Latif Palijo appeared before the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in Karachi on Monday, declaring that any attempt to divide Sindh “will never succeed.”
Escorted by hundreds of supporters, party workers, and leaders of allied nationalist groups, Palijo recorded his statement in response to a summons issued for his public opposition to a proposal of separating Karachi from Sindh. Addressing a charged gathering outside the NCCIA office, he said the agency had failed to provide any legal justification for the notice.
“Sindh is one and inseparable. No power can distort its historical identity,” Palijo said. “State institutions are being used to suppress voices that speak against this illogical and dangerous proposal.”
The summons triggered immediate backlash across Sindh. Judicial proceedings remained suspended in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Tando Allahyar, and Mirpurkhas as lawyers observed a strike.
The Sindh Bar Council and Bar Associations across the province passed unanimous resolutions in solidarity with Palijo. Prominent lawyers including Naveed Jarwar, Imtiaz Chandio, and Sajjad Hussain termed the summons “illegal and politically motivated.” Protests and rallies were also held in several cities where civil society members and citizens chanted slogans against the alleged partition plan and expressed support for Palijo.
