Colourful asides
The recent All Parties Conference on terrorism was full of colourful asides. Gathered in Isloo under the banner of The Man of Steel were all of Pakistan’s political parties and their stalwarts. Our mole reports that after one particular ovation of The Man of Steel, Mushaisaab slipped him a note saying, “Vah Mian Sahab! 1993 ka sher yad aa gya”. We also hear that Chaudhry Aiteraz was true to form and objected to the all-embracing intent of the new anti-terrorism legislation. “I won’t allow Baloch nationalists to be targeted by this”, he thundered. And sure enough, the provisions were fashioned to target only religion-inspired terrorism.
Another hot topic on the sidelines was The Great Khan’s “thaw or not” with the government and his second marriage. Politicos were heard whispering that The Khan tied the knot in the middle of the dharna days – Muharram 7th to be precise – and that his old friends and family were not present. The maulvi who performed the nikah was subsequently inducted into The Khan’s core committee.
