Progress continues


It was reported by Daily Dunya (26 April 2020) that Saudi Arabia has discontinued its practice of flogging as a judicial punishment. The General Commission of the Saudi Supreme Court has instructed that flogging be replaced with imprisonment and fines.


Austere iftars


According to Daily Express (26 April 2020), Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar has prohibited the practice of hosting iftar parties at the government’s expense. The CM emphasized the need for strict discipline in spending at this time.

Daily Jang (26 April 2020) reported that federal railways minister Sheikh Rasheed had called off an iftar party for journalists and railway officials after it came under criticism for the risks posed by such a gathering during the Coronavirus pandemic.
