Privatize or perish
There’s a debate going on amongst The Great Khan’s number crunchers. His lead advisor is of the view that there is no need to privatize the country’s loss making public sector corporations. Others are of the view that the government is faced with a stark choice viz these white elephants – it’s privatize or perish. A tussle between these two incompatible positions is on the cards.
Conflict of interest
We hear there’s a move afoot to appoint an independent power producer as an advisor on this very subject to our economic tsars. If this isn’t a conflict of interest, one wonders what is. Also, the very same gent was called in by Mush to do the same for his government. The gent used the opportunity, not only to advise Mush, but to set up his power company, which he still owns. We hope this is an unsubstantiated rumour and such practices are a thing of the past.
MBS formula
So, it’s all set. The government is thinking of following the Muhammad bin Salman formula, which is arrest, intimidate, squeeze and release. The plan is that all the Fat Cats who are alleged to have stashed away billions illegally will be hauled up and dispatched to the slammer. Once there, they will be read out the riot act, to put it mildly, and then asked to cough up or else. Exactly what MBS did in the Land of Sand recently. Freedom for the Fat Cats will come at a price.
