Oh those TTs!

e hear that there were some interesting exchanges in a recent cabinet meeting. One freshly minted sugar baron, who also serves as a min, had the temerity to suggest that sending remittances from abroad to oneself in Pakistan was not illegal under the law. Although delivered under his breath, the sentence had a predictably negative impact on The Great Khan. He was irritated, we hear, and rebuked the minister.  Oh those TTs!

Pivotal people

ore and more, The Great Khan, is looking like a figurehead. The pivotal people in his team owe their appointments to You-Know-Who and many of them haven’t even bothered to join The Khan’s horde. From the Healthy Min, to the gent who’s Bored of Investment, to the Energetic Reformist, to his new-wine-in-old bottles Min of Fin, none of them are members of the Party. And the old advisors are all gone – Shrieking, Shafto, The Moody One, Choi, A Sad Age. The Khan is surrounded by a cabal of carpetbaggers who’ve served everyone diligently, from remnants of the Zia regime, to Hubby, to The Man of Steel, to Khan now and presumably back again when times change.

Unforgiving

ources say that Mr Bean, aka the Chaudhry of Chakri, may be preparing to make a comeback. There was speculation about him getting a position of pre-eminence in the Punjab, which was later repudiated. We know his principal sin was that while he was close to The Brass, he couldn’t bring himself to make a clean break from The Man of Steel when time came, hence his consignment to oblivion. The result is that he hasn’t been forgiven by either. We hear that he wanted to visit The Man when he was last in hospital, but in the end certain factors intervened and it didn’t come to pass.
