Balance of terror
That poor money-laundering model’s saga continues with her having become a pawn in the “balance of terror” between The Man of Steel on the one hand, and Hubby on the other. And between Mr Bean on the one hand, and RM 007 on the other. Lest we forget, the lady was caught at Isloo airport last month with half a million greenbacks in her bag, attempting to smuggle them out to Dubai. We hear Mr Bean & Co know well the model’s connections to RM007 and his boss, and are determined to keep the sword dangling over the latters’ heads by not giving any quarter to the woman caught in the middle. That’s why there’s been no “resolution” of the case. The model herself claims to have become radicalised by her contact with “poor and oppressed female inmates” of the jail at which she’s lodged. As soon as she’s out, she says, she will begin a campaign for the rights of jailed women, an improvement in the justice system and uplift of the wretched conditions in which they are detained. “Methinks the lady doth protest too much”, as Shakespeare famously said.
Close to home
At a recent khaki-civvies’ meeting in Isloo on security and campaign against terrorism, there was a light moment when a high official couldn’t operate his laptop. A junior techy had to be called in to do the needful so that the power point presentation could begin. The senior khaki present told The Man of Steel that no progress had been made by the civvies on a “clean-up” of a handful of Punjabi madrassahs, serving as nurseries of terrorism. He went on to say that they were aware of their limitations, but could Talented Bro please be urged to “sort out” just one madrassah “close to home”? This was important, said the khaki, because they had learnt that this very madrassah was a watering hole for the terrorists who perpetrated the December massacre at Army Public School, Peshawar.
