Diary of a Social Butterfly

Diary of a Social Butterfly
What a lovely wedding, Rema aur Sheheryar ki shaadi. Oho, baba, Sheheryar Taseer only. And Rema who is Fawzia Qureshi’s daughter, bhai the one that wrote that fat book on Multan and its tombs and other old, old buildings. Itna mujhay accha lagta hai na when I see people settling down. Vaisay, at the wedding I missed Salmaan Taseer so much kay don’t even ask.

I was telling to Mulloo kay ub you should also get your Irum married off. Hur cheez ka time hota hai. Don’t want to say but she’s 29 already. Becoming elderly girl. And no offence, but once a girl becomes elderly…

Mulloo says that she’s at her twits’ ends. She’s told Irum hundred hundred times and aagay say she respond karoes: ‘Aap ko kya jaldi hai? I need some time to find myself’. I told Mulloo, you better organise search parties to help find her. Kyoon ke she tau seems clueless.

So I took matters in my own two hands and I said to Sunny, ‘Sunno Sunny now that your son has finally managed to peecha churhao from that cheap flooze who couldn’t even be bothered to say salaam to you, you shouldn’t loose any time, you should fata fut set him up with some nice shareef type heiress before another chaaloo cheez gets her claws into him.’

‘But where to find a nice shareef type heiress these days, yaar?’ Sunny asked. ‘You know Mulloo’s Irum?’ I said. ‘Okay she’s no heiress but she’s had good brought up. Won’t make too many demands because between you and me, Mulloo and Tony’s halaats being what they are, uss ko bahar ki hawa naheen laggi, which turns their heads na.  So many girls I know jo Jimmy Chew say neechay baat hi nahin kartien. But Irum? She’ll be grateful, she knows her place.’

‘Despite of their circs, mujhay koi objection nahin hai,’ said Sunny. ‘Also it’s nice to have grateful girl. But kya karoon? Talha says she’s very nice but they have no chemistry’. ‘Oho baba,’ I snapped. ‘Shaadi karni hai kay laboratory kholni hai?’
