Most lucrative business

It appears politics is indeed a lucrative business and none more than selling and buying seats in the Senate. Sources say the cost of a Senate seat has jumped to Rs 300 million and even more interestingly, the mode of business is so sharp that it leaves one gob smacked. Take the case of one FATA MNA, a Fragrant Flower of a man if names are anything to go by. He has apparently given Rs 100 million per man as “advances” to the rest of his party, five independent MNAs from FATA, and “booked” them, as it were. With the booked party of six (including himself) under his belt, he is in the marketplace, looking for buyers. We hear he has approached Hubby with a proposition, “give me Rs 300 million per MNA and buy six votes for your Senate showing”. Our mole says he’s sent the same offer to The Man of Steel but since the latter has fallen foul of The Boys and Their Lordships, The Man is in no position to take up the offer, as indeed he was helpless in the matter of the Bal government’s sale and purchase, for much the same reasons. Only in the Land of the Pure….

Sent Upstairs

Who says The Great Khan’s right hand man is out of the run? No sir, regardless of what Their Lordships have ruled, the right hand man is still very much in place. There can be no surer evidence of this than the fact that the former Glaswegian Guv has been denied a berth in the Punjab Provincial Assembly – where he could’ve acquired Chief Ministerial airs, or aspirations to be Leader of the Opposition – and sent Upstairs to the Senate. It is no secret that the Glaswegian Guv and The Khan’s right hand man don’t see eye to eye.
