Climate Change Is the Afterlife of Empire – Climate Colonialism Explained

The climate crisis didn't start in the 21st century. It began centuries ago when colonial empires violently reorganized the planet's ecosystems, land, labor, forests, rivers and soils for extraction and profit. Monocultures, famines, destroyed indigenous knowledge systems, carbon inequality, ecological debt — today's climate emergency is the direct continuation of colonial violence against the Earth and its peoples. If we don't confront climate colonialism, no amount of technology, net-zero targets or green finance will be enough.
