First Ever Journalist Health Insurance Package In Federal Budget
ISLAMABAD: The PDM coalition government has earmarked Rs 1 billion for health insurance coverage of working journalists for the first time ever.

The federal government, in the last budget of the current National Assembly's tenure, has given a relief to working journalists.

“Delighted to announce that an allocation has been made in the budget for health insurance of working journalists for the first time ever. Rs 1 billion has been allocated in the budget for FY 2023-24,” federal minister for information and broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said in a tweet soon after the government unveiled the budget for the coming fiscal year.

She was also grateful to the prime minister for the move. “I am grateful to PM Shehbaz Sharif and FM Ishaq Dar for allocating funds for this very important measure. As Information Minister, it was one of my goals to be able to arrange this facility for working journalists, especially during these difficult times,” she added.

Minister for finance Ishaq Dar announced in his budget speech that health insurance cards will be issued to working journalists and artists.
