CJ Bandial Hopeful Political Parties Will Agree On Election Date
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan while releasing the order for May 5 hearing in the case of holding elections across the country on one day, stated that it is expected that the political parties will agree on a date for the elections across the country.

In its ruling, the SC said that the efforts of the parties to resolve the political issues through negotiations is commendable, political issues can be resolved in a better way only through negotiations and consensus.

In its order, the SC further stated that the political parties are expected to agree on a date for the elections across the country.

It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and government committees submitted their respective reports on the negotiation process in the court.

Federal Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique apprised the court that a consensus has been reached to hold elections together.

According to the order of the SC, Saad Rafique said that if the negotiations continue, the date will also be agreed upon. However, PTI’s Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi in response expressed disappointment over the progress in the negotiations, the SC adjourned the hearing of the case for indefinite period.
