JI Chief Terms 2018 Elections As ‘Selection’
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Chief Sirajul Haq has said that those (establishment) who brought Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan into power had publicly admitted that they extended extreme support to him, but their choice was wrong.

He said that it is not a hidden secret that the establishment fully supported the PTI in the 2018 general elections. "Even the PTI was not sure that they would win by that much of a margin, but the victory was gifted to them," he added. He said, "Up to a large extent, you can say that the 2018 election was ‘selection."

While expressing regret for the current political crisis, JI Chief Sirajul Haq has said that not only former army chief General (retired) Qamar Javed Bajwa and former ISI chief Lieutenant General (retired) Faiz Hameed but several judges and bureaucrats were also disloyal to their oath and the constitution.

While giving an interview to V News, Haq said, "We want the judiciary, the establishment, and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to be neutral and conduct fair elections across the country at the same time." "Political parties should jointly formulate a plan for this, he added.

The JI chief highlighted that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan ended his own governments in two provinces as per his own will, adding that no one forced him to do this. "They were free to dissolve the assemblies, but they would have to be part of the consultation and negotiation process for reconstituting the assemblies and re-elections," he added.

He said, "It cannot be like this that if the assemblies are dissolved at will, then elections can be held at will as well."

In response to a question, he said that there is no other way except elections. He said that an election is not a personal vehicle that you can ride wherever you want to go. It is a form of train on which millions and millions of people will ride, he added.
