Imran Khan To Remove COAS, Appoint Faiz As ISI Chief After Taking Power: Journalist
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan is playing efficiently to execute his plan aimed at securing government once again, declaring the appointment of Army Chief General Asim Munir unconstitutional through the apex court and re-appointing Lt Gen (r) Faiz Hameed as chief of ISI after coming to power, claims journalist Asad Ali Toor.

In a recent vlog on his YouTube channel, Toor said Imran Khan is successfully implementing the script authored by former ISI chief Lt Gen (r) Faiz Hameed, and both have high expectations from Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Umar Ata Bandial in this regard.

He claimed that the way the CJP Bandial was forming Supreme Court benches to hear crucial cases and including like-minded judges in the benches was raising the hopes of Imran Khan and Lt Gen (r) Faiz Hameed. He claimed that both were optimistic that they could get verdicts of their choice.

CJP Bandial’s retirement date, September 16, is also nearing. So, Imran Khan and Lt Gen (r) Faiz Hameed are highly concerned that elections should be held across the country simultaneously before his retirement, he claimed.

He said that Imran Khan was pressuring the government to conduct elections across the country for this reason alone. As per the surveys, it is evident that Imran Khan is popular among the masses, and if elections were held across the country, he would win with a majority, he added.

He further said that the prime minister appoints the DG ISI, and there is no restriction in the constitution that bars a retired army officer from becoming the chief of ISI. To support his claim, he gave the example of Lt Gen (r) Shamsur Rahman Kallu, who was appointed by then-prime minister Benazir Bhutto as the DG ISI despite having retired from the army. Legally, Lt Gen (r) Faiz Hameed can become DG ISI again.

The journalist claimed that if Imran Khan came to power, an unknown petitioner could file a plea in the Supreme Court against the appointment of Army Chief Gen Asim Munir. He claimed that the petition would maintain that the appointment of Gen Asim Munir was unconstitutional as he was about to retire but got appointed as the army chief, and Shehbaz Sharif violated the law by choosing him for the post. He added that the same situation had occurred in the past when a petition was filed against the extension of former army chief Gen (r) Qamar Javed Bajwa by Riaz Hanif Rahi. He claimed that the move was initiated from inside the army.

“CJP Bandial will take up the plea for hearing, and we will see whether Justice Ijaz ul-Ahsan, Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, Justice Muneeb Akhtar, and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar are included in the bench or not.”

Toor claimed that Imran Khan and Lt Gen (r) Faiz Hameed are hoping that the Supreme Court will rule that Army Chief Gen Asim Munir’s appointment was unconstitutional. He further said that since Arif Alvi is the President of Pakistan and the supreme commander of the army, he will instantly de-notify Gen Asim Munir. After which, Lt Gen (r) Faiz Hameed will recommend Imran Khan to appoint ‘that general’ as army chief, he claimed. Imran Khan will nominate one general and move the summary to the presidency, and then President Alvi will issue the notification of his appointment as the army chief, he claimed.

The journalist claimed that this is how the “golden days” of Imran Khan and Lt Gen (r) Faiz Hameed will return.

He said that Imran Khan and Faiz Hameed have so far succeeded in dissolving assemblies in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). They even succeeded in getting a Supreme Court verdict regarding elections within 90 days in Punjab and KP assemblies. Moreover, Imran Khan is continuously getting relief from the Supreme Court and high courts, he added.

Toor claimed that Lt Gen (r) Faiz Hameed and Imran Khan were fully active and highly enthusiastic in the execution of their plan.

“Imran Khan is a vindictive person and he will take revenge on the opposition through ISI by appointing Lt Gen (r) Faiz Hameed as the DG.”

To support his claim, Asad Ali Toor said that Imran Khan had stated once that if he came to power, he would ask ISI to conduct accountability of corrupt politicians because ISI had proof against them. “How can ISI conduct accountability of politicians, and how can the ISI have proof against politicians when it is not the mandate of ISI?”

He claimed that Lt Gen (r) Faiz Hameed will fulfill the desire of Imran Khan after becoming the ISI chief once again. The current ISI chief Lt Gen Nadeem Ahmed Anjum will not fulfill Imran Khan’s desire, so the appointment of Lt Gen (r) Faiz Hameed is necessary for the execution of this plan, he added.
