‘Sex Education’ is the most-watched web series on Netflix. The series’ story revolves around a teenager Otis (played by Asa Butterfield) whose mother is a sex therapist, and he initiated a secret sex clinic along with his classmate Maeve Wiley (played by Emma Mackey) to address their issues and to guide them.
After 3 successful seasons, reports are circulating that season 4 is also in production. No one knows whether season 5 will emerge or not but Emma hinted at her exit from the web series in a recent interview. Emma plays the lead female role in the series and is loved by many.
Emma shared that she is getting a number of offers for different web series after gaining fame through her remarkable performance in ‘Sex Education’. However, she also stated that she would like to exit from the show, this indicates that she might not be among the cast of season 5 as Maeve Wiley.
Emma said, “It’s just always tricky, it’s different when you’re playing a character that is sort of stuck in time. You know, we’re playing 17-year-olds, and we’re all almost 30, it is a bit weird. It’s a blessing because it is a launchpad, and it is something that has given us opportunities in different ways but it’s something that I want to gracefully exit from, and be happy that it exists and protect it and enjoy it in the time that it has existed in but yeah, it needs to be left alone now.”
Emma said that everyone now can move on from the series with what everyone has learned so far. Her quote stated, “We can all move on and take what we learned from Sex Education as well because it has been a school, quite literally, for all of us. It’s just wonderful to have had that education and to have that baptism of fire and to have just been flung into that whole world. I think it’s made us stronger.”
Sex Education Season 4 release date
Sex Education season 4 will likely be released in a month or two.
Netflix has renewed Sex Education for season 4 – which is handy as the cast and crew all seem keen on more comedic sexual escapades at Moordale High – or wherever they'll be studying next, considering the school is set to shut down after the events of the third series.
