An elderly man in Gharo sexually assaulted a 23-year-old mentally-challenged woman in Sindh's Gharo, on Monday. He has confessed to his crime.
The woman, identified as H*, was assaulted within the limits of Gharo Police Station, the area police said.
They said Raza Khaskheli, a 65-year-old man, was arrested after an FIR was lodged by the victim's father, under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The accused, police maintained, lived near the house of the victim, and had been suffering from a mental disorder since her childhood and couldn't speak. She was alone when the incident took place.
Police also quoted the Gharo sexual assault suspect as accusing the woman of 'luring him' to commit the vile act, and that he 'couldn't control himself despite his efforts.'
Initial medical exam, the LEA said, suggests that the victim of Gharo sexual assault was subjected to sexual assault, adding a final report would further assist in the ongoing investigation.
According to the victim's mother, they were facing acute financial crisis and she would go to the Gulshan-e-Hadeed area and clean houses to earn livelihood for the family.
She wasn't at her home when the incident took place. She added that a relative, Nawaz Khakheli informed her about it when she returned home the following evening.
Meanwhile, a video of the accused has gone viral on the social media wherein he can be heard saying, "I have committed the odious offence, punish me in whatever way you want."

They took them to the nearby trees and separated both, before subjecting the woman to the heinous act. The victim was also tortured during her ordeal.
Earlier that day, police claimed to have arrested the accused behind the brutal murder of a young female tiktoker.
The body of the model, Sneha Gul, was found from Kahina, Punjab on Dec 3, 2022. She was drugged and taken to the said area and shot seven times by her friend when she asked him to marry her.
