Shahbaz Gill Seeks Forgiveness From Minority Lawmaker Ramesh Kumar Over ‘Derogatory’ Remarks

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shahbaz Gill has apologised to Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Ramesh Kumar for verbally abusing the minorities’ representative during a TV talk show in 2022.

Gill arrived at Kumar's residence and apologised for using derogatory language against him on a private TV channel ahead of the vote of no confidence against then-prime minister Imran Khan.

The PTI leader said his words must have hurt Ramesh Kumar, and he was sorry for whatever happened between them during the talk show.

In a tweet, Gill said, "Ramesh Kumar is from a minority, that is why I went to him today, and I don't want to fight with any minority."

It is pertinent to mention here that Shahbaz Gill is currently facing dozens of cases, including the defamation cases filed by the Sharif family, former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, and others.

Ramesh Kumar also tweeted on the matter, saying: "Today Shahbaz Gill came to my home to apologise and express regret over the remarks." He added: "As it is our tradition in Sindh when someone comes to our home, we forgive them."

Ramesh Kumar also announced that he has instructed his lawyer to withdraw the defamation case filed by him against PTI leader Shahbaz Gill.

On March 17, 2022, Gill lost his cool and repeatedly used profanities against PTI MNA Ramesh Kumar on live TV for severing ties with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Shahbaz Gill repeatedly used abusive words against Ramesh Kumar, paying no heed to the fact that he was speaking on national television.

While speaking during the show, Gill shouted at Ramesh and called him a "sell-out." He also accused him of selling fake cancer medicines in Punjab.

Kumar denied all the allegations leveled by Gill and said: "Imran Khan is a good person but he had the wrong advisers."

In 2018, Ramesh Kumar had left the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and had joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
