Historical Mosque Demolished In India To 'Pave Way For Road'
A historical mosque located in India's Uttar Pradesh has been demolished to "widen the road", it emerged on Monday.

In the widely circulated video on social media platforms, a crane can be seen demolishing the structure.

In the said clip, passersby and onlookers are seen making videos as the mosque is razed to the ground.

One Twitter user suggested that Shahi Masjid was located in Allahabad and built during Sher Shah Suri's time.

According to them, it was razed to widen the GT Road and a court hearing in this regard was due for Jan 16.

Dec, 2022 marked 30 years to the anniversary of 16th-century Babri Mosque razing in Ayodhya by Hindu hardliners, who claim that the site was the birthplace of their lord Ram.

Last month, Indian hardline leader Ameya Khopkar threatened to disallow release of Pakistani film Maula Jatt in India.

“There are plans to release Pakistani actor Fawad Khan’s Pakistani film ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ in India,” Khopkar had said on Twitter.

“It is most infuriating that an Indian company is leading this plan. Following Raj Saheb’s orders we will not let this film release anywhere in India.”

Khopkar, a follower of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray, had then labeled Fawad Khan’s fans as traitors, saying they may as well go to Pakistan to watch the film.

According to an analysis, thoughtful Hindus will have to decide if they want to uphold free Hindu expression or behave increasingly like hardline clerics. The latter would be unfortunate, as strong positions against freedom of religious expression and of conscience only stem from a place of a deep-rooted insecurity and inferiority complex.

Indeed, it adds, large segments of Muslim masses have embroiled themselves in victimhood since the fall of the Muslim empires to the extent that they have resuscitated intense movements from time to time.

It is best for the ruling regime in the neighbouring country to take notice of the intent of the hardliners. If that isn't done, there is a threat that it will soon lose its status of being a secular nation.
