A lot of cricket fans seem unhappy over the role of 'bad light' throughout PakvsNZ Test series, with most of the criticism aimed at skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed's 'flawed decisions', but Kiwi captain seems to think otherwise.
The series in Karachi ended in 0-0 although Kiwis were in a position to win both the Tests but could not due to bad light and Sarfaraz’s outstanding form in his first series in nearly four years.
It emerged as a Pakistani journalist asked Tim Southee if the ICC should adopt rules to discourage use of 'negative tactics' in the game.
According to the unnamed journalist, "teams use negative tactics to kill time", and whether results could be different otherwise.
"It's this time of the year and its darker quickly," the unmoved Kiwi captain said and added, "I think [both] sides use tactics within the game in various situations."
'Sarfaraz was the difference'
Southee told reporters in the same presser, “Sarfaraz was outstanding… not only today, but throughout the whole series.”
“He came out, he played positive cricket, played busy cricket. For somebody who hasn't played for four years, credit to him.”
He went on to add, “We knew from the nature of the surface that things could happen late in the Test but Sarfaraz was probably the difference. We could've won had we got him earlier.”
