'Qureshi, Asad, Tareen, Shafqat Were Forced To Join PTI'
Shah Mahmood, Jahangir Tareen, Shafqat Mahmood, and Asad Umar were all forced by our intelligence agencies in 2010 and 2011 to join the PTI during the efforts to bring Imran Khan to power, according to journalist Saleem Safi.

"They didn't join PTI as per their own aspirations and this is what they told me directly," Safi said at Naya Daur talk-show Khabar Say Aagay.

Likewise, some prominent people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, too, weren't happy at being forced to join the political party, he added.

"A few people like Jahangir Tareen, Naeem-ul-Haq, and Aun Chaudhry were actually loyal to Imran. The rest, the ones who surround him, are just an appeasing bunch."

The journalist noted that the former PM presented himself as a messiah to the establishment, but it was soon known that he didn't have a team or a homework in place, and he ruined the economy.

"PTI chairman was using the establishment as a shield for all his shortcomings. Looking at his treatment of crucial matters, it was decided to remove him from power in order to safeguard national security."

Referring to the cases against the ex-PM, Safi said Imran may not be spared, provided that there is no pressure on the judiciary and the Election Commission.

Flagship Naya Daur TV show Khabar Say Aagay streams Monday to Saturday at 9pm.
