Bajwa Aided Imran in 2018: Presidency Denies But Journalist Confirms
"I inquired President Alvi about PTI chief Imran Khan's claim that he didn't have powers as the premier, to which he replied that Gen (retd) Bajwa aided the ex-Prime Minister during the 2018 Senate polls."

The statement released by the President House is, in fact, a confession; his remarks weren't taken out of context, said journalist Mazhar Abbas during Naya Daur TV programme Khabar Say Aagay.

Shedding light on the said meeting at the presidency, he said that the talk revolved around audio leaks, besides political issues.

Abbas quoted Alvi as saying that during the no-trust motion against Imran, Gen (retd) Bajwa asked him to play his role, to which he replied that "you [ex-COAS] are yourself a player."

He, according to the journalist, also spoke about the challenge he faced with regard to the army chief's appointment.

Earlier today, Alvi debunked a report quoting him that “Gen Bajwa and his team” helped Imran in the Senate and aided PTI during the elections too. According to him, he was quoted out of context, in a “twisted and self-concocted” way, and that the remarks were “wrongly attributed to him”.

Flagship Naya Daur TV show Khabar Say Aagay streams Monday to Saturday at 9pm.
