Breaking: Security High Alert In Islamabad, US Embassy Says Marriott Might Be Target
The US embassy in Islamabad issued a security threat alert today, Sunday 25 December, to its personnel and to US citizens in Pakistan's federal capital to refrain from visiting the Marriott hotel in light of reports that some unknown persons are "plotting to attack Americans" at the hotel.

This comes as Islamabad police announced that security across the city was on "high alert" in order to prevent any untoward incidents or possible acts of terrorism and violence on Christmas day.

On Friday, a suicide bomber and a suspected female accomplice detonated their vehicle near a police checkpoint in Sector I-10/4 of Islamabad, causing the death of one police head constable and injuries to four other police personnel stationed at that checkpoint.
