Watch: Afghan Male Students Stage Walkout Against Ban On Females
Afghan male students on Wednesday staged a walkout from their campus to protest Taliban's decision to ban female students from university education.

A day earlier (Dec 20), Afghan authorities announced to place an indefinite ban and issued directives to all government and private universities in this regard.

The reasons for the aforesaid ban, which will likely mount further pressure on the government in Kabul, have not been revealed.

In a video posted on Twitter, male medical students made the iconic gesture as female students watched and lauded them.

Furthermore, an Afghan faculty member at Kabul University stepped down as a mark of protest against the official action.

The student announced to "oppose brutal clampdown on girls education even if I have to stand alone."

This morning, Pakistan expressed disappointment at the decision and urged authorities to undo the same.

In its statement, the Foreign Office said, “We strongly believe that every man and woman has the inherent right to education in accordance with the injunctions of Islam.”

The ban comes less than three months after thousands of females sat university entrance test across the country, with many of them aspiring to join the disciplines of engineering and medicine in future.
