Newly appointed Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir on Wednesday paid his maiden visit to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad.
The Prime Minister congratulated General Asim Munir on taking over as the country’s new army chief, and said that it was a great honor to lead the armed forces.
PM Shehbaz said that he hoped that under Gen. Munir’s leadership, the armed forces will deal with the national security challenges being faced by the country in an even more effective manner.
“The whole nation is proud of the role of Pakistan Army in protecting the motherland and fighting the menace of terrorism,” said Shehbaz Sharif, adding that there was full confidence in the capabilities of the army.
According to a statement by the official Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Twitter account, the two also discussed matters of importance within the military.

May I request that PM office ought to tweet or issue communique about such meetings as both are office holders.
PMLN twitter handed ought to refrain from commenting on such meetings apart from in general terms of national security. COAS office should not be partisan. Mainstream Media has also a responsibility while choosing what to pick from social media as news. Otherwise unnecessary chatter can not die down. Please avoid چسکہ reflex reporting.
Let military become apolitical and recede to its constitutional responsibilities only.
