ISPR Confirms That Summary For COAS Appointment Has Been Forwarded
In the early of hours of Wednesday morning DG ISPR confirmed on Twitter that the summary for COAS appointment has been forwarded.

The military's media wing announced that it had forwarded the names of six lieutenant generals for the selection of army's two top slots to the Ministry of Defence.


"GHQ has forwarded the summary for selection of CJCSC and COAS, containing names of six senior most Lt Gens to Ministry of Defence," tweeted the Inter Services Public Relations Director General Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar.

Earlier, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has announced that the prime minister Shehbaz Sharif has not received the summary from General Headquarters (GHQ) for the appointment of chief of the army staff (COAS).

On Tuesday night, journalist Ansar Abbasi in a TV show informed that a summary had been sent with the names of six senior lieutenant generals.

ARY News reported that among the names, Lt Gen Asim Munir was placed in the first position, Lt Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza in the second, Lt Gen Azhar Abbas in the third, Lt Gen Nauman Mahmood in the fourth, Lt Gen Faiz Hameed in the fifth and Lt Gen Muhammad Amir on the sixth position in the seniority list.

Journalist Umar Cheema however tweeted in Punjabi that the summary has been received but the government is not agreeing with the proposals sent.
